In spite of a highly centralized rural healthcare infrastructure in the country, there are a number of issues facing the rural healthcare sector. One of the major concerns is the low efficiency and poor quality of the healthcare professionals employed in the Indian rural sector. The contributing factors of this may be attributed to the highly centralised healthcare systems in rural India, with no local autonomy over the quality of healthcare. Ill equipped and under trained staff in some rural areas have proved to be a major hindrance in optimizing healthcare services.
In view of these concerns, the Indian government has initiated two significant initiatives that increase the local governing body participation / responsibility and utilization of funds allotted through local governing bodies. Thus local self-government in rural India has become the main vehicle for the delivery of effective healthcare services to the rural community.
We invite you to contribute on the subject on how rural healthcare programs and schemes in the country can be more effective and deliver optimized services for millions of rural populace in India.
